PayPal caught discriminating against cannabis users

It was brought to our attention today that PayPal has been actively profiling and discriminating against cannabis related websites. The company (PayPal) is actively going after any accounts that might or might not be associated with anything related to cannabis.

My own personal PayPal account was closed without a reason. It’s not really a big problem since I don’t use PayPal much due to their excessive charges. I had a $0 balance in the account, and it was NOT being used for any merchant activities.

Out of the blue, I received an email stating that I can no longer use PayPal – not a big deal since I barely use it anyway, but I wanted to know the reason for this. I called their “customer support” to find out what happened, and was told that the account was closed due to being associated with a medical cannabis website (even though no cannabis related transactions or sales have ever been done on this account, as we don’t sell anything on the website). The account was barely used and definitely did not violate any part of the user agreement.

After speaking with the “customer service” representative, it has become clear that PayPal is actively discriminating against medical cannabis users. If they decide that you are a medical cannabis user (even if you don’t use paypal for any cannabis transactions), they will close your account and keep your money!

I am very glad that having heard about PayPal’s shady practices, I didn’t keep any cash in the account. Terrible business practices, and even worse customer service!

If you are a medical cannabis user, STAY AWAY FROM PAYPAL!
