Growing Marijuana in Rockwool

Diseases, Pests, and Plagues

Plants are living material. They’ll stay healthy if we make sure all the climatological conditions are right. We’ve already stated earlier that this involves light, air, water, clean surroundings, and green fingers. Controlling the climate, in all its aspects, is the best way to prevent diseases and insects. That doesn’t mean that the careful weed grower, who has everything well in order, will never be bothered by plant diseases and pests. We do want to say that good climate control considerably reduces the risks of disease.

I was using Rockwool and I was sure that my space was very well built. A virtual “cleanroom” but I still almost lost the three trays of 4″x4″ Indie/Sativa clones. I was on a three-month cycle, which was really 60 days of growing. The mite infestation hit me at about 45 days of growing. I didn’t want to use the chemicals on them that close to harvesting, so I took a small toothbrush and dishwashing soap and scrubbed the buds when I had the lights on and turned the air conditioning down to 60* and between the scrubbing and the freeze out allowed me to harvest all the plants and averaged almost a once per plant. This was a long time ago, 12 years ago. The quality of the weed was excellent, and this was back when good weed was $400 an oz.
